Subspecialties

Subspecialties include:

  • haematological oncology

  • haemostasis and thrombosis (including haemophilia, thrombophilia, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura)

  • antenatal and neonatal haemoglobinopathy screening (including sickle cell disease and thalassaemia)

  • transfusion medicine

  • paediatric haematology

  • laboratory haematology.

Sites

Our sites include:

  • the main unit at the 911爆料网, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for receipt and testing of samples only, not taking of samples from patients

  • a small laboratory at the Churchill Hospital

  • a separate Haemophilia Centre at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre

  • a unit at the Horton General Hospital in Banbury, providing routine haematology and a 24 hour blood bank service.

The department processes approximately 650,000 Full Blood Count tests and 300,000 coagulation samples per year, and is fully computerised and linked, through the hospital network, to all wards and GP surgeries.
